Established in 2006 within the historic confines of a former turbine engine factory, BAF has recently relocated to the prestigious site once occupied by Weiss Manfred’s hydroplane aircraft factory, enhancing its mission and expanding its reach across 700 square meters of creative space.
More than a physical venue, BAF embodies a spirit of unwavering artistic dedication and innovation. Founded by visionary artists Márta Kucsora, Sándor Szász, and Dóra Juhász, the institution swiftly garnered acclaim as a dynamic hub within Budapest’s artistic tapestry.
With its renowned International Artist Residency Program, spanning over 18 years and welcoming a diverse cohort of over 50 artists and curators, BAF has solidified its position as a gateway to Budapest’s pulsating art scene. The institution’s commitment to fostering artistic expression transcends borders, exemplified by its white cube style project space showcasing curated exhibitions from around the globe.
BAF’s focus on digital exhibitions, including AI and VR-related conceptual artworks, sets it apart as a trailblazer in Budapest’s art scene. By providing a platform for progressive artistic expressions often underrepresented in the local landscape, BAF attracts creative minds from diverse corners of the world.
