Binder Trió: Hommage à Bartók
2026-01-10T19:00:00.000Z
Károly Binder is a musician of great stature who puts his talent to work in the service of synthesizing new trends, different musical cultures, compositional techniques, and improvisational systems, without forgetting his own musical roots. He is an independent artist whose piano playing and compositions cannot be classified into any single stylistic or genre category. Since the late 1970s, Binder has been pursuing the path he has set for himself with unwavering consistency, a path for which there were no domestic precedents. In addition to the oeuvre of Béla Bartók, his development as a composer clearly reflects the influence of the folklore of the Carpathian Basin, the melodies of the Hungarian homeland and the Volga-Kama region, and even the American repetitive school associated with Steve Reich. The Binder Trio's program this time is based on two pillars: pieces from the Children's Series, which is the focus of the ensemble's latest five-disc release, and compositions by the bandleader, in which Bartók's legacy and contemporary jazz enter into dialogue.
