2023-06-10T16:00:00.000Z

One year ago, the Vállfa (Hanger) Project set out to promote ethical and sustainable fashion. We organized free clothing swap events, workshops and discussions, adapted to each season. The final event of the project is an alternative fashion show on 10 June 2023 which will highlight the conceptual (critical) role of fashion alongside sustainability.

Date: 10 June 2023, 18.00 - 21.00

Location: 1083 Budapest, Molnár Ferenc Square (opposite the Space of Opportunity)

Participants:

‘Kids of the Diaspora’ represents the ‘conceptual’ direction of the show. The Vienna-based brand focuses on identity and belonging, often using text and poetry. Their collections carry a strong message and have a minimalist design.

‘Dezső’ is bringing the sustainable fashion approach to the event. The brand's artist-trained designer, Dominika Dömötör, is actively engaged in reusing and re-thinking materials, and offers a great alternative for slow fashion lovers.

‘Terike from Budapest’ is an online platform and magazine that collects works of fashion designer students and young designers. Their aim is to create connections and new opportunities for young fashion professionals. For the show, Valentin Szarvas, one of the founders, is going to select from the works of the designers presented at the website of ‘Terike from Budapest’.

‘Baltazár Theatre’, a company that works with people with intellectual disability, is going to present a performance in costumes that evoke the fantastic world of the play 'Balthazár Night’s Dream' (2011), created by underground Hungarian fashion designer Tamás Király (1952-2013).

As part of the event, participants of the Vállfa Fest Competition will present their own fashion design sets. Visitors can walk around, talk to the designers and choose their favorite creation for the audience award.

The evening is going to end with the announcement of the winners and the presentation of the special awards and the audience award.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the ‘Nem Adom Fel’ ((I'm) Not Giving Up) tent.
