Guided tour and publication presentation / Ádám ULBERT: What drives the thorn x Flóra GADÓ

Schedule
On January 7, 2026, we will bid farewell to Ádám Ulbert's first solo exhibition at the Rechnitzer Gallery with a guided tour and publication launch.
During the event, Flóra GADÓ, the curator of the exhibition, and Ádám ULBERT will discuss the exhibited works and the publication released for the occasion in a joint guided tour.
Ádám Ulbert's first solo exhibition at the Rechnitzer Gallery is based on the concept of thorniness. Its starting point is the "perfect" (soft, smooth, round, symmetrical) form idealized by art history and its critique. Instead of the easily accessible, he draws inspiration from other "forms" of nature that are the exact opposite: prickly, thorny, sharp, or pointed.
Driven by his interest in ecology, he explores how we can adapt to a changing natural and cultural environment. What happens if, instead of running away from what pricks and hurts us at first, we face it head on? Is it possible that this will make us stronger?
Also on display is the limited edition manifesto entitled We Must Grow Thorns, published by Hurrikán Press, which explores Ádám ULBERT's current artistic and ecological questions, art historical inspirations related to thorns, and their role in the creative process.
Written in lyrical language, the text can be read both as a Dadaist poem and as a scholarly essay; it is an accurate reflection of Ádám ULBERT's current artistic position.
