Sophie spends her busy weekdays in the hat shop she inherited from her father. Despite her young age, she rarely allows herself to go to the nearby town for a little fun; but on one of her trips, she meets Howl, an incredibly charming wizard. Misunderstanding their relationship, the jealous Witch of the Waste casts a terrible curse on Sophie, turning her into a 90-year-old woman. Completely devastated, the girl flees to the wilderness until she accidentally stumbles upon Howl's traveling palace. Concealing her identity, she gets a job as a cleaning lady in the palace. The mysterious and energetic lady soon fills the rooms of the ancient castle with life, where only Markl, the wizard's fluffy-bearded apprentice, and Calcifer, the fire demon who rules the house, live. This is the place where Sophie can finally unleash her talents and perform extraordinary miracles. Her shared story with Howl may be just beginning.

Bem Cinema
In January 2016, the 108-year-old Bem Cinema will reopen its doors to the public, in a new way never seen before in Hungary: as a cinema of cult and classic films (no harm!), or as the educated French say (if you know your English): as a "repertory cinema".
