Why did the Hungarian nation take Elizabeth of Wittelsbach into their hearts, and what lay deep within the queen's heart? Why and for whom did she feel passion, affection, or even love?
On Valentine's Day, we invite you to take a special, romantic walk in the Neo-Renaissance garden of the Castle Garden Bazaar, its hidden staircase, and the Sisi Room, which commemorates the queen beloved by the Hungarian people and can only be visited with us. Let's discover the most hidden secrets of Queen Elisabeth's heart together! What kind of child, wife, friend, and girlfriend was Elisabeth of Wittelsbach, who was crowned in 1867? How did she cope with the loss of her little daughter, Sophie, and her only son, Crown Prince Rudolf, and how did she find fulfillment as the mother of her fourth child, Maria Valeria? How did she cope with her marriage to Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria, which was based on love but ultimately became unhappy? Driven by a desire for freedom and becoming increasingly lonely, Sisi, who referred to herself as the Seagull or Titania in her poems, did she really harbour tender feelings for the "handsome hangman," Count Gyula Andrássy? Did she truly care about Hungary and the Hungarian people? All this will be revealed on our walk!
