Cseresznyéskert // Anton Pavlovics Csehov műve nyomán // Feledi János – Feledi Project
2026-04-17T17:00:00.000Z
On the border of a bygone world, where the past and present intertwine, the dance theater performance The Cherry Orchard evokes the pain and beauty of change. The Feledi Project's new production reinterprets the motifs of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov's iconic drama through contemporary movement and live jazz music, with the unique sound of the Péter Sárik Trio. The dilemmas of nostalgia, letting go, and starting over are expressed not through words, but through movement, body memory, and musical improvisation.

The story centers on an old, slowly decaying estate, whose cherry orchard is not merely a backdrop, but a dense symbol: the beauty of the past, changes in social hierarchy, and the site of communal and personal losses. The garden, which once represented wealth and aesthetics, now stands on the brink of inevitable transformation. The characters express their inner conflicts and emotional relationship to the garden through movement. The use of dance to convey meaning amplifies the subtle emotional nuances that Chekhov's drama only hints at. The live music does not merely accompany the dance, but engages in a dialogue with it.
The Cherry Orchard is about letting go of the past, the inevitability of change, and the hope for the birth of a new world—a deeply personal yet universal dance theater confession. The performance focuses on the inevitability of the passage of time and the transience of human relationships. The cherry orchard symbolizes both nostalgia and the possibility of rebirth, while jazz and dance together explore the question: is it possible to find harmony in change?
