The pull and push of emotional tides – TENDER returns to Budapest.

The British electronic indie duo, TENDER, is coming back to Budapest with their new album, ‘Where The Waves Break’, set to be released this summer. They will perform on October 14th at Turbina Kulturális Központ.

Since their formation in 2015, TENDER has become known for combining the intimacy of bedroom pop with festival-sized ambition. The duo, comprised of James Cullen and Dan Cobb, has garnered hundreds of millions of streams with their songs. To date, they have released three full-length albums, the most recent being ‘Flux’ in 2023, and now ‘Where The Waves Break’ is arriving in June, showcasing the duo with renewed confidence and autonomy. To preface the new material, they also released their latest track concurrently with the announcement of their autumn European tour.

Their new single, ‘Heavy’, serves as a prelude to an album that meditates on balance, duality, and the fragile space between calm and chaos. It sets the tone for a record exploring the push and pull of opposing emotional forces: from certainty and contentment to doubt and unrest.

Speaking about the single, TENDER stated: „It’s about having an identity crisis at the peak of your life. First-world problems. You want everyone to pity you, despite having everything for happiness, yet you reject it.”

The songs were written and self-produced by James Cullen and Dan Cobb in their homes on England’s south coast. ‘Where The Waves Break’ is TENDER’s most focused and ambitious work to date. It was crafted during a period where light and darkness co-exist. The album doesn’t offer clear-cut solutions; rather, it comfortably resides in the tension between extremes, capturing the emotional ebb and flow of everyday life. TENDER last visited Budapest in 2019, but now, on October 14th, we can sway together to their latest tracks at Turbina Kulturális Központ.
