Man-su (Lee Byung-hun – *Squid Game*) has been a respected employee at the local paper mill for decades. He is living the Korean dream: in a spacious family home with his wife, their two children, and two dogs, spending his free time carefully tending his bonsai trees.
However, the factory’s new owner initiates layoffs in the name of modernization, and before long Man-su finds himself out of a job. His initial determination to find new employment gradually turns into despair: after a while, even supporting the family pets becomes as much of a burden as keeping up with the regular mortgage payments. A series of humiliating situations ultimately drives Man-su to take increasingly drastic steps, crossing every boundary.
