An old tree stands in the middle of a botanical garden. Lonely, just like the other inhabitants of the garden—thousands of kilometers away from their original habitats—so that we may admire and observe them. As we watch them, they watch us. They witness our brief, chaotic, noisy, and troubled lives.
The film tells three stories, each about a tentative encounter between humans and plants, moments when these two radically different ways of perceiving the world truly connect. Our human protagonists, like the plants in the garden, are outsiders, solitary souls—and they long for connection just as the plants do.
