Schedule
Creativity – Self-Exploration – Flow – Community
Join us for a free creative workshop where we use bleach to paint on the cotton fabrics you bring. Guided by intuition, simple symbols, and free forms, you’ll explore a process that’s full of surprises: the fabric reacts in its own way, and your design slowly reveals itself before your eyes.
We’ll begin with a few gentle self-reflection questions to help you discover the symbols that best represent you and your community. What connects you? What values, feelings, or shared experiences define your tribe? A curated selection of books on symbols and visual culture will be available for inspiration.
Once your idea takes shape, you can sketch it on paper—or, if you’re feeling bold, go straight onto the fabric. Outline your design with chalk, then paint with bleach and let the natural qualities of the material bring your vision to life.
Alongside creating your own piece, you’re warmly invited to contribute to a communal artwork. Add your symbol to our growing patchwork symbol map—a shared textile banner celebrating community, connection, and diversity. We’ll provide scrap fabrics and all the tools you need for this collective creation.
What to bring:
An old, dark-colored (not necessarily black) cotton T-shirt, sweater, or canvas tote—and your creativity.
