Gil and Inez are engaged and visiting Paris on business. It soon becomes clear that the couple isn’t quite right for each other. Gil might want to live in Paris and become a serious writer, while for Inez, that’s out of the question. Gil loves walking in the rain, while Inez does not. The plot takes a turn when Gil discovers that at exactly midnight, at a certain spot in Paris, he can board a horse-drawn carriage and travel back in time to the 1920s, a period he adores.
