Trust your Architect! Budapest the 150 years old city
In the next season of Trust your Architect!, "Urban Design and Architecture", we will be looking at what the city is, what it is built from and by whom, what are the decision-making aspects, and where the architect is involved in these processes. How historical, political and social events, decisions and demands have shaped our environment.

We will be presenting four sessions in the spring semester 2023, each of which will showcase a different layer of the city, so it will be worth joining us:
- Budapest is 150 years old
- Urban public space and green space development, public space use, representation
- Infrastructure - urban vascular and neural networks
- The city - urban transport, urban networking, urban networking, urban infrastructure, urban transport, urban networking
BUDAPEST AS A 150-YEAR-OLD CITY The discussion will use the example of Budapest to illustrate the process and pitfalls of urban planning. We want you to get to know our capital from a different perspective. We're committed to unveiling the not so obvious connections that are lying under our noses. How has the urban fabric been shaped by the political will of the time and by the various representational intentions from the millennium onwards? How do we account for conscious urban planning and what were the first decisions taken in this spirit? How is the urban fabric changing, or what is preventing it?
We will also discuss the situation of Budapest today and the decision-making mechanisms of urban planning. What is the city? How is it built? What is the city of the future? Are we going in the right direction? What are the points of view, what are the conflicting interests in decision-making? How can political/social acceptance be gained behind each issue? And last but not least, how and when does the architect figure in this process.
