Eco-philosophers' Garden

Effective altruism is both a field of research that aims to identify the world's most pressing problems and the best solutions to them, and a community of practice that aims to use these results for good.

This project is important because, although many charitable experiments fail, some are highly effective. Some charities, for example, help 100 or even 1000 times as many people as others with the same amount of resources.This means that if we think carefully about the best ways to help, we can do much more to solve the world's biggest problems.

Inspired by effective altruism, people are taking action on a wide range of issues, from funding the distribution of 200 million malaria nets, to scientific research into the future risks of artificial intelligence, to campaigning for policies to prevent the next pandemic.

In the Garden of Eco-Philosophers, we discuss such ideas, philosophical approaches and strategies. We will be assisted by Annamari Bajusz and Gergő Gáspár, representatives of the movement in Hungary.

Watch your step! Unlike a park or garden, this area is designed to soon become a natural EARTH. Still young and fragile, we humans are just one of the many creatures that visit. Please stay on the wood chip paths between the beds at all times and only sit on the specially designed seats along the path. Watch out for strawberry seedlings, nettles or wildflowers that stray onto the road and the branches of young trees that come into contact with them. It's a wonderland of smells for dogs, so owners should keep them on a lead and on the paths at all times.
