In many cultures, the Wind is a metaphor for the force that moves the world and man, which is never visible in itself, only its effects are felt. Through it, the material world shakes and moves, awakens, lives, dies and is renewed.
The "Gate of the Wind" is man himself, a gateway between the material world and spiritual space. The Wind permeates and connects these worlds, at the same time destroying all boundaries, and is thus omnipresent.

The Gates of the Wind continues and further expands the questioning of the company's two previous performances, Droplet Canon and The Swarm:
Where do we look for our thoughts, our feelings? In the brain? In the heart? In our cells? In each other? In the space of our relationships? In our actions?
The movement world of the performance is a combination of Tai Chi Chuan, Shen Dao Kung Fu and the natural gestures that build on them.
Its minimalist musical composition is based on instruments such as the harmonium, wind instruments, singing or the human breath, all instruments and devices that use the gentle or even wild power of the movement and flow of air.
The performance space, which is both an artistic and an intellectual space, is, as always at Artus, one of the most important creative elements. This time, too, it is more than just a spectacle or a space to receive the performance - the space is the content.

National Dance Theatre
On 15 February 2019, Budapest's unique new cultural arena opened its doors: the new National Dance Theatre in Millenáris Park. The building, equipped with the latest theatre technology and featuring unique architectural solutions, offers two theatre halls and a chamber hall for dance lovers, as well as rehearsal rooms for professional dancers. The foyer of the building will also become a community space open to visitors to the park, giving Millenáris the opportunity to become even more part of the capital's bloodstream.
