Mothers Back is a collaboration between Viktória Dányi and Dóra Furulyás. In the 2022/23 season, we are specifically creating opportunities in collaboration with the SÍN Art Centre to talk together about the effects of parenthood on careers.
To this end, we will be organising talks with artists throughout the season and periodically perform our production Hidden mom at SÍN.
After attending these programmes, we accept donations to support the work of Mothers Back.
Mothers Back: Hidden mom
I love being an artist= I love being a mother
We have come to the conclusion that we need almost the same skills as artists as we do as mothers. We practice a lot every day. We push our boundaries regularly. We are persistent, sensitive, flexible and creative.
Hidden mom is a female duet in which the performers cycle between different roles, juxtaposing motherhood and art. Taking on all the work involved in the performance, they appear as dancers, DJs, lighting technicians or stage handymen. They are not afraid to make mistakes, because their experience allows them to support each other and calmly guide each other out of difficult situations with humour or, in some cases, with the pain of agony.
"Hidden mom tackles the challenge of work-life balance, a popular lifestyle podcast column, by being able to think of motherhood and art as part of the same sustainable lifestyle (focusing on listening to each other rather than perfectionism), not as mutually exclusive but as mutually conditional. All this is a cliché in description, but Hidden Mom's greatest virtue is that it does not use words: beyond the conceptual statement on the page, (...) the space here belongs to the showing, to the bodies." Noémi Herczog
After the performance there will be an audience meeting with the creators.
