The Hungarian State Opera House considers it extremely important to serve not only its opera-loving audience, but also to think about the next generation, the next generation of opera-goers: to involve children and young people. So, in addition to programmes for children and young people, and in addition to operas and ballets specially for children, it occasionally stages a condensed version of certain works with children, designed for the 'little ones'. This time, the company has chosen Levente Szörényi and János Bródy's legendary rock opera Stephen the King, the story of Hungary's first holy king, a shortened, child-friendly version of which has already been performed in other venues under the title Stephen the King Goes to School, directed by Pál Feke. In the 2023/24 season, OPERA will host and present this finished production in the already family-friendly, youthful Eiffel Workshop Theatre. Then, if there are any children who are up for it, they will have the opportunity to see the "great" Stephen the King in Miklós Szinetár's exciting 2020 production at the Erkel Theatre.

The production is brought to you by Zikkurat Theatre Agency.
