XXI MittelCinemaFest: INVELLE

The film tells the story of three girls in three different periods. The first is 1918. Zelinda is a peasant girl whose mother is in heaven and her father is at war. She lives like an adult: she takes care of the house, her brothers and sisters, and looks after the animals. One day, Zelinda will have a mother and a father again. At the village fair, the child clings to her father and opens her eyes wide to take in whatever appears before her, be it reality or imagination. Zelinda has seen it all and has an idea of how the world works. Everything changes so quickly that her story becomes another girl's story. Assunta is a peasant girl in 1943, balancing on one leg, staring at the sky and living in (another!) war. As soon as she gets the chance, she sews herself a colourful dress, takes a leap and bang! The war is (maybe!) gone for good, and with it a whole world. Now we're jumping a bigger one: it's 1978. Icarus is a peasant boy, spinning around in the void. He will do what neither his mother nor his grandmother could do, nor those who lived before them, and those before them, and those before them.
