Cáit is a quiet little girl of just ten growing up in deprived circumstances. Her mother is exhausted and pregnant again, and her alcoholic father, who has a short temper, would rather ignore her. The family decides it's best for everyone if Cáit is placed with relatives for the summer. With no children, a whole new world opens up for the little girl. In the idyllic, green surroundings, Cáit opens up and finally discovers the secrets her new foster parents have been trying to hide from her.

One of the most surprising directorial debuts of the year, The Quiet Girl has received an outstanding critical reception and has already impressed audiences at film festivals around the world.
