The life-changing story of Harold Fry, an ordinary old Englishman who, on a whim, sets off on an 800-kilometre walk to deliver a letter to a dying friend. Harold makes the news, becomes a sensation, and is accompanied by casual followers and helpers. In the process, he comes to know himself better and takes stock of his life.

The Rachel Joyce book on which the film is based has become an international bestseller, her life-affirming story has been nominated for a Man Booker Prize and she has won the New Writer of the Year award in Britain. The story has also been made into a radio play, and the film adaptation was made by BAFTA-winning director Hettie Macdonald, who also made Normal People. The Unlikely Journey of Harold Fry stars Academy Award-winner Jim Broadbent (Moulin Rouge!, The Iron Lady, Gangs of New York, Paddington, Game of Thrones, Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and Penelope Wilton (Downton Abbey, East of Haven - Marigold Hotel, Match Point, Dawn of the Dead).
