Attila Horváth - Rebeka Petra Kiss: The unspeakable game of gaiety
The popular childhood board game paints a realistic picture of the current stages of our lives. The often never-ending board game is set against reality, not in reality. The rules of the game are based on events that have taken place, in whole or in part.
Young emerging artists have created a fun self-reflective board game from their own professional back and forth. The genre of the performance is dance performance, with a pre-recorded video instructing the performers throughout. Dance, physicality and visuals are integral to the performance.
Schedule
The performance will present the difficulties of freestyle swimming through the real life stories of two performers. The significant achievements and failures of the four years since graduation are presented with unvarnished honesty and self-deprecation. A game of unspeakable hilarity based on a board game situation with a range of movement on the board game field. And we, the performers, play as puppets to be the first to reach the final field of dance art. The game is based on a set of rules, developed from our experiences as dancers, where we can move forward with different qualities of movement from field to field, but also backwards and forwards. The players are budding individual entrepreneurs, instructed throughout by their own voices. We don't know what the outcome will be, but we do know the possibilities.
Attila Horváth (born 1996) is a freelance dancer, performer and creator. He graduated from the Hungarian University of Dance Arts in 2018 with a BA in modern dance and is currently a student of the Master's programme in dance pedagogy. In 2016 she worked as an intern for 2 months at Theather Ulm in Germany. Her first piece "The unspeakable play of gaiety" was presented at MU Theatre in 2022. The piece was invited to the "Festival of Dance" in Veszprém and to the Under500 Festival. As a freelancer, she has worked with several Hungarian artists.
