Four strangers - a child, two women and a man - meet a mysterious man. All of the lonely souls were contemplating suicide, and the mysterious man gave them a week to see what the world would be like without them. Who would miss them, who would change their lives? And all the while, they could answer the question: could they love themselves and life again?

Paolo Genovese is the director of the most successful Italian comedy of recent years, Total Strangers. This time Genovese (Superheroes, The Place) has adapted his own novel for film. The inspiration for the story is one of the most successful Christmas movies of all time, Frank Capra's family play Life is Wonderful. Genovese has set the story in a contemporary setting, with Toni Servillo in the lead role. Servillo is one of the best-known and busiest Italian actors of our time, having shot to worldwide fame with The Great Beauty. He is joined by Margherita Buy (Ignorant Fairies, My Mother's Cinema) and Valerio Mastandrea (Total Strangers, Nine, The Place, Pasolini) in this life-affirming production.
