Schedule

In our traditional culture, the transmission of intellectual property was a natural process. The knowledge accumulated over generations in folk art, in our case folk music and folk dance, was passed on by word of mouth. Tradition, as a set of values, determined the moral character of the village community and permeated its life. Village customs and dances were not only a form of entertainment, but also an opportunity for the older generation to educate the new generation. Traditionally, knowledge has been passed down from father to son, but in terms of generational processes, our intellectual values have also been passed down through the ages.

The tradition was practised by the village community, but there were still outstanding masters of transmission and transmission. In the modern sense, they were the creative artists who shaped the art of the people through their talent and artistic sense.

For the survival of our traditional culture in modern times, we owe a great deal to the collectors who have recorded the knowledge of the traditionalists who still exist, in whatever form they may be found. The work of our folk-dance collectors is an invaluable heritage, as the traditionalization of rural societies has ceased, and they have brought much of the vanishing spiritual heritage into the present in time.

Location

National Dance Theatre

On 15 February 2019, Budapest's unique new cultural arena opened its doors: the new National Dance Theatre in Millenáris Park. The building, equipped with the latest theatre technology and featuring unique architectural solutions, offers two theatre halls and a chamber hall for dance lovers, as well as rehearsal rooms for professional dancers. The foyer of the building will also become a community space open to visitors to the park, giving Millenáris the opportunity to become even more part of the capital's bloodstream.
