After 24 years, FrenÁk Company's new choreographic concept reflects with sensitive nostalgia and a strong sense of topicality on the basic idea behind its iconic Tricks&Tracks, which shook the contemporary dance scene of the 2000s and shaped Hungarian dance history. Running Time puts a curved mirror on the rush that threatens human relationships in our current society, while at the same time it explores the eternal questions of human relationships, independent of generational changes. Time, movement and immobility are given new meaning - FrenÁk opens up the space for a sane human existence with an infinite dimension of silence, turning its back on autodestructive existence. As long as we are in motion, we live, and even if only through micro-movements, we can express a spirit that, even after Covid and other trials, puts the joy of living first. Rather than pathetic nostalgia, FrenÁk builds on continuity and the courage to look ahead, and instead of a contrast between past and present, the spotlight is on the diversity of transformation and permeability. The memorable FrenÁák stage presence, by re-enacting the changing body of the evolving soul, is meant to represent the essential permanence experienced in continuous change, the simultaneity (or illusion of simultaneity) of the trinity of past, present and future.
The dynamic new generation of performers use a fantastic use of space and energy to rip through the air and the ground, evoking the past while rising to a new perspective. Intertwining and colliding with each other, they connect organically, even in impossible situations, where spirit and faith give them the strength to overcome their limits and open the way to the real sense of their existence.
