What do 89-year-old Agnès Varda, the only female member of the French new wave that is revitalising cinema, and 33-year-old French photographer and street artist JR have in common?

More than you might think: a similar philosophy and a lifelong passion for the creation, exhibition and publication of images. The two artists set off together in JR's camper van, converted into a photo booth, to the remote villages of France, where they talk to the locals and take gigantic portraits of them. The images are taken from the walls of houses, barns, factory buildings and the sides of trains. Faces, Roadside documents these heartwarming encounters and the unlikely friendship that develops between the odd couple along the way.

A magical atmosphere and an unforgettable road movie.

Winner of more than twenty prestigious film awards, including the Golden Eye at Cannes, and nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary.

Location

Bem Cinema

In January 2016, the 108-year-old Bem Cinema will reopen its doors to the public, in a new way never seen before in Hungary: as a cinema of cult and classic films (no harm!), or as the educated French say (if you know your English): as a "repertory cinema".
