Do Not Expect Too Much From the End of the World
For anyone who loves cinema and is open to unique contemporary specialities, the Cinema Niche screening series is a must. Most recently, Béla Tarr, who recently received the European Film Academy's Lifetime Achievement Award, paid tribute to his former student Hu Bo, whose epic 4-hour film Elephant Sitting Still was screened in the Korda Room of the Corvin cinema.
This time, a new film by one of the most original voices in Romanian cinema will be screened at Niche. Radu Jude's Do Not Expect Too Much From The End Of The World will be screened twice in total, the first time in the main auditorium of the Pushkin Cinema.

On the surface, the film follows the day of an underpaid and overworked production assistant in Bucharest, who shoots casting videos of various industrial accident victims so that the German company manager can choose the most unfortunate of them for a preventative video, while from time to time making macho parody Tiktok videos in the style of rape and human trafficking accused Andrew Tate. In fact, we could go on for pages describing the film's story, cinematic language and shocking timeliness for a feature film that usually takes years to make, and it would still be full of surprises for anyone who sat through it.
