Sit down Hungarian! - book launch with extras

The anthology, entitled I Wouldn't Walk with a Poet, published by the Á Books publishing house, shows what we are talking about when we talk about Petőfi through the short stories of fifteen contemporary Hungarian authors. At least, the fifteen possible answers to this question are presented in the volume, which is far from being dominated by the pathos-soaked tone of school and state commemorations. It is a kind of affectionate relationship with our 'great national poet', which includes humour, irony and a problematisation of Petőfi as a person or of certain aspects of his oeuvre. The volume also touches on issues such as domestic violence, gender equality, the mosaic family, leaving the country after high school - all in relation to Petőfi.

Schedule

The exciting and humorous young adult short story collection provides plenty of points of connection, and raises many questions and topics that are relevant to today's readers - so the volume includes Petőfi, several versions of the puliska, Sherlock Holmes, school bullying, alternative history and an instagrammer who operates with poems.

The cover and the illustrations are the work of László Herbszt, thanks to whom the anthology has an aesthetic value as a book in its own right.

At the presentation, Amanda Szabó will commemorate the poet and revolutionary with the authors, and after the subsequent discussion, Bence Glávits will put everyone's Petőfi in a new light with a dance performance.
