"Imre Benkő, the subjective documentarist, that's what the poster says. To me, documentary means getting up in the morning to see and show something of the world other than oneself. And subjective means that not only the light reflected from outside reality, but also one's own inner light leaves its mark on the film. The only source of light that man has is love."

The presentation of Imre Benkő's photographic oeuvre spanning six decades is the first highlight of the Kunsthalle 2024 programme. The exhibition selects from the full range of his oeuvre, from his award-winning 1975 World Press Photo to his iconic series of photographs taken in Ózd, Budapest and abroad, to his travels in China in 2019.
