Rézeleje és Erdőfű Dance

As Rézeleje Fanfares we have been playing together since 2020, mainly Moldavian and Balkan dance music. Wherever we appear, we evoke the atmosphere of how folk melodies live on in their original medium in the modern age: played on modern instruments, with the crisp sound of a brass band. Our repertoire is based on traditional collections, modern melodies based on folk music and original compositions, with unique instrumentation.

Erdőfű is a collaboration of dance musicians from Hungary. Its members are all committed to the authentic performance of the folk music tradition of the Carpathian Basin, both in dance halls and concert venues.

The aim of the initiative, which can also be regarded as a music workshop, is to provide a comprehensive picture of the diversity of string folk music of the Hungarian regions and the ethnic groups living with us, keeping in mind the specific characteristics of the given region or village. The ars poetica of the musical association requires in-depth professional knowledge and specific knowledge of the musical traditions of a particular region, so it is important that the members of Erdőfű have sufficient experience and knowledge of instrumental folk music. Their performances provide an opportunity for the audience to experience the unique sound of Carpathian Basin folk music in terms of different instrumental arrangements and specific playing styles.
