THE DUST WORKSHOP #4 - Movement Creation Lab
THE DUST WORKSHOP #4
Movement Creation Lab - Choreographic Tools
with Julien Klopfenstein @ Trafó Studio
A 3-hour workshop for dancers and movers with prior experience, focused on generating, shaping, and composing movement material through improvisation and choreographic tools.

Schedule
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
In this workshop, I invite you to work with the body as a tool for artistic creation.
Beginning with movement-based tasks and guided improvisation, we will explore how internal states, imagery, physical attention, and raw impulses generate material and develop a personal movement vocabulary.
From there, the focus shifts toward shaping: selecting, structuring, and composing what emerges. Participants will work with simple choreographic tools to transform movement into material that can be developed, repeated, and refined.
This workshop is not focused on performance or aesthetic outcome, but on the creative process: how to access, generate, and organize movement in a way that can continue beyond the workshop.
This workshop is for dancers and movers with prior experience who want to deepen their creative process, develop tools for generating material, and engage with composition in a focused and exploratory environment.
Participants will leave with practical tools, a clearer approach to creating movement, and experience working with composition both individually and in a group.

ABOUT “THE DUST”
“The Dust” is an evolving practice that began with the solo performance From the Dust of the Earth. Rooted in transformation and impermanence, it explores movement that emerges from internal states rather than external form. Developed through workshops and performances across Europe, the practice continues to evolve with each context and group. By joining the workshop, you become part of this ongoing research.
