SUSPENDED SELF
Perspectives on Gen Z between Psychological Landscapes and Urban Code
What does it mean to grow up in an era shaped by acceleration, digital identities, emotional uncertainty, and fragmented urban realities? "Suspended Self" brings together emerging artists whose works navigate the psychological and spatial experiences of Generation Z.

Schedule
By combining intangible emotional states with the layered fabric of the city, "Suspended Self" creates a dialogue between Budapest and Beijing, positioning the exhibition as both a research environment and a public platform exploring themes of memory, identity, alienation, digital culture, and the evolving relationship between the self and the city.
"Suspended Self" is part of an international “Triple B” project, a collaborative initiative between the Institute for Arts and Media Industries (IKMW), Freie Universität Berlin, the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in Beijing, and 11_11. Bringing together students, researchers, and emerging cultural managers from Berlin, Beijing, and Budapest, the project explores urban revitalization, intercultural exchange, and contemporary experiences of Generation Z through art and collective research.
The exhibition is one of the first manifestations of the cultural revitalization of the S1 site, a former brewery complex. In collaboration with the Kőbányai Önkormányzat, 11_11 is working to reintegrate the 11-hectare former Dreher Brewery site into the urban fabric of Budapest.
