The Tragedy of Man
*The Tragedy of Man* is more than 150 years old. It is a great work, required reading, and an indispensable classic of Hungarian literature. At the same time, it is a vibrant tapestry, a stunning intellectual and poetic structure, and a wild and multifaceted vision that remains just as powerful today as it was when it was written.

Adam, Eve, and Lucifer’s journey through human history—from ancient Egypt to space travel and beyond, into a post-apocalyptic future—raises new questions at every turn.
Does humanity evolve over the course of history? Does it learn from its mistakes? Or does it simply go around in circles over and over again?
Is an ideal social order possible, or is every attempt doomed to failure from the start?
What is free will?
What is love?
What is the purpose of all creation?
Is the reality our heroes experience predetermined, or do they have a chance to shape their destinies differently?
Nothing but secrets, nothing but questions.
Neither God nor Lucifer provides the answers. We must all find them within ourselves.
