Design Diaries: Fashion Design
Flash talks on design by international designers and theorists at editory.

Schedule
In a fashion landscape saturated with visual noise, fleeting microtrends, and fast fashion, small brands and independent designers face a complex and contradictory industry. In Central and Eastern Europe, awareness of, appreciation for, and access to independent fashion vary widely. As sustainability becomes a starting point rather than a distinguishing feature, how can small labels develop distinct creative languages, experiment, and rethink our relationship with clothing? And how can sustainability extend to the businesses, creative processes, and people behind the garments?
Do Czech, Slovak, Polish, and Hungarian designers and brands encounter similar challenges today, or are their experiences fundamentally different?
If you’re curious about what’s happening next door, come join us!
At the second Design Diaries event, professionals from fashion design, management, and education will reflect on their experiences and the contexts shaping their work. Beyond conventional portfolio presentations, personal stories, garments, materials, makers, and inspirations will reveal the human side of fashion as a lived, embodied practice rather than merely an aesthetic phenomenon.

Design Diaries is a five-part event series that explores the contemporary challenges facing design from a regional perspective, the specific characteristics of individual countries’ design strategies, and current issues concerning designers across various fields. During the thematic evenings, regional representatives of each topic (both designers and theorists) share their thoughts through short presentations inspired by professional diary entries. The aim of the program is to facilitate knowledge exchange and professional networking in the fields of design and object culture among the Visegrád Four countries, Czechia, Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary, and to foster potential future collaborations.
