Farewell to a Legendary Venue
There is a place in Budapest that has been part of Hungary’s railway and industrial history for more than 150 years.
The Northern Maintenance Depot began operations in 1867 and remained one of the country's most important railway maintenance centres until 2009. For more than a century, locomotives, railway carriages and legendary vehicles passed through its halls, while generations of railway workers carried out their work in its vast industrial buildings.
Today, this remarkable piece of industrial heritage is set to become the new home of the Hungarian Museum of Science, Technology and Transport. Here, surrounded by iconic Hungarian railway vehicles, visitors can experience the unique atmosphere of the Northern Maintenance Depot once again. The exhibition features, among others, a 424 steam locomotive, a Warszawa railway track inspection vehicle, the 242 steam locomotive, an Antonov An-2 aircraft and the Árpád railcar.
On November 6, we will also bid farewell to this extraordinary venue.

Budapest
The best things to do in Budapest! Several medieval bridges connect the 2 sides of the city that give it its name: Buda and Pest. Cruising along the Danube is a great way to see Budapest in all its glory.
