Schedule

The country’s largest museum festival returns this year at the Hungarian National Museum on Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, 2026!

Organized by the International Council of Museums (ICOM), which represents the international museum community, this year’s International Museum Day is themed “Museums Connect a Divided World.” In line with this, the event aims to create a cultural meeting place for visitors, museums, and the museum profession alike. Participating institutions will demonstrate how a museum can become a true meeting point, where experiences from the past help us navigate the issues of the present, and where we can think together about the future. One of the main goals of Museum May Day is to show that a museum is not merely an exhibition space, but also a living community space that connects us—through our histories, memories, and values.

Over the course of two days, a rich and diverse lineup of

- programs,

- interactive demonstrations,

- guided tours, discussions,

- family activities, and

- community experiences awaits visitors.
