As professional organizations and advocacy bodies, we are initiating a public, democratic professional consultation on the transparent reorganization of the cultural institutional system.
In recent days, numerous position papers and statements have been published, clearly indicating the urgent relevance of this issue.
We do not seek a change of elites or a realignment of power, but rather a democratic, transparent structure! Our goal is to initiate a broad public consultation and a policy forum. We consider it important, in the new situation brought about by the change of government, to help develop a cultural strategy that views culture not as a privilege, but as an accessible public good. The event sees its task as facilitating the collective reflection on and development of proposals grounded in professional expertise!
On May 8 at 6:00 PM, we are organizing a public event in the main hall of Trafó. We invite all arts professionals, representative bodies, and independent practitioners to join us in discussing the challenges and opportunities of transforming the cultural sector and the future of the institutional system; to and our shared concepts with real meaning, and to communicate our proposals based on these to the incoming government. The starting point for this dialogue is provided by recently published position papers, including
- the discussion paper by Edit András, József Mélyi, Gergely Nagy, Enikő Róka, and Edit Sasvári: https://amu.hvg.hu/.../kepzomuveszeti-12-pont-es-a.../
- the AICA statement https://www.artmagazin.hu/.../az_aica_magyar_tagozata...
- as well as the demands formulated by the Free Artists in 2012, which many have brought back into the discourse.

To strengthen intergenerational professional dialogue and knowledge transfer, representatives of the younger and middle generations will share their proposals in short introductory presentations at the event, followed by a facilitated forum where all attendees will have the opportunity to discuss and contribute. The goal of this process is to provide a common forum for diverse professional voices, resulting in a coordinated set of proposals that we will present to the incoming government through the collective strength of the professional community.
