Hi,

On this hike we are heading to the Danube Bend. We will climb the Szent Mihály Hill from Nagymaros. Going on its rocky side we will have a great view of the Danube Bend almost all the way. We also visit the Hermit Cave on our way, then we will descend to the center of Zebegény. From here, bypassing the group of the Szent Mihály Hill, we will return to Nagymaros on a pleasant walk.,

Elevation: approx. 570 m +/-

Route: Nagymaros-Visegrád railway station -> Ördög Hill outlook points -> Hermit Cave -> Dobozi Cliff -> Zebegény, center -> Köves Meadow -> Nagymaros-Visegrád railway station

Estimated duration: appr. 6 hours

Difficulty: MEDIUM

MEETING AND DEPARTURE:

8:50 AM at Nyugati Railway Station, in front of the platform of train "Z70". We will travel to Nagymaros-Visegrád with the train "Z70" towards Szob departing at 9:08. We will start our hike at 9:47.

TRAVELLING BACK AND ARRIVING HOME:

We will arrive back to Budapest-Nyugati around 5 PM.

TICKETS/PASSES:

- The Hungary Pass is valid for trains and buses, which is only 1.890 HUF for students.

- If you don’t have a valid student card, Pest County Pass or Hungary Pass, it is recommended to purchase the Pest County24 daily ticket for 999 HUF.

- Tickets and passes can be purchased at any MÁV or Volánbusz ticket office, at MÁV machines, or through the MÁV app.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

- This hike is also recommended for beginners, however wearing proper hiking shoes is mandatory.

- It is worth preparing for various weather and road conditions (mud, wet, slippery roads). Weatherproof clothing and hiking boots might be necessary.

- All participants should bring enough food and drink for all day long!

- This hike counts as 1 occasion during the completion of the ELTE Hiking course.

Participation fees:

As part of Sport7, this hike is free of charges for everyone.

Other conditions of participation:

- The price of tickets and any other costs must be payed by the participants themselves!

- Participation is only possible for those in suitable physical condition, and with appropriate clothing and equipment.

- We reserve the right to change the program in case of unfavorable weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances (e.g., railway service disruptions), even on the day of the hike or during the event.

- Photos or videos may be taken of participants during the hike, which will be used only for documenting our events.

Participation in the event implies knowledge and acceptance of these terms, and no compensation can be claimed from the organizers on any grounds.

Nagymaros is perhaps the most beautifully situated and panoramic small town in the country. It is located in the Danube bend, 52 km from Budapest, on the left bank of the Danube, in the valleys running from the Börzsöny, on the hills and on the banks of the Danube. The surroundings of Nagymaros are rich in natural beauty and cultural and historical monuments.
