Schedule
At this reading event, spiced with musical improvisations, Béla Fesztbaum—a Jászai Mari Award-winning actor—evokes Iván Bächer’s Újlipótváros alongside his outstanding musical partners, violinist Izsák Farkas and cellist Mihály Simkó-Várnagy, as well as through the photographs of Gábor Rátonyi. Iván Bächer (1957–2013), an honorary citizen of the 13th District, was a writer, journalist, and an iconic figure of Újlipótváros—and will remain so forever. With unparalleled powers of observation, a unique sense of humor, and deep empathy, he tells stories about the people who live here—not just for those who live here, but for everyone. His writings unmistakably radiate a “Bächer-esque” humanity, wit, and love of country.
