Dávid Mester is a research fellow at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), where he carries out outstanding research in the fields of quantum chemistry and computational chemistry. His work was recognised, amongst other honours, with the Junior Príma Award in 2023. On 8 September, he will be speaking at Susuka about his field of science and his current research – or rather, he would be speaking, if the presenter sitting opposite him understood anything about the subject. But he doesn’t. Not in the slightest.

So you can expect him to ask questions about absolutely everything without a hint of embarrassment: for example, what the difference is between Newtonian and quantum mechanics, what ‘quantisation’ actually means, or what the Schrödinger equation is actually about, apart from the fact that that particular cat somehow always turns up (or doesn’t). And if you happen to have any questions of your own along the way, feel free to chime in at any time. At this point, it might even be worth dropping the ‘lecture’ label and simply treating the occasion as a conversation. That’s better anyway.
