On the outskirts of the secluded port city of Hope, residents discover traces of unusual destruction. It soon becomes clear that the destruction and slaughter of domestic animals are not caused by a predator or humans, but by mysterious creatures never seen before. Where do they come from, why are they here, and what are their intentions? Bum-seok, the commander of the local police station, and his companions try to figure this out, while – sometimes as pursuers, sometimes as pursued – they are forced to fight the newcomers again and again. Their situation is further complicated by the fact that most of the local police have previously been redirected to fight nearby forest fires, and communication between the small town and the outside world has been disrupted.
