MOMOKO GILL, SUPPORT: VARGA DANIEL // BUDAPEST TURBINA

Schedule
On November 8, Momoko Gill—one of the British jazz scene’s most exciting and genre-defying artists—arrives in Budapest.
The multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer comes to Hungary for her debut concert, bringing songs from her self-titled debut solo album Momoko, released earlier this year. While she was previously known mostly for her collaborations with artists like Alabaster DePlume, Matthew Herbert, Shabaka Hutchings, and Tirzah, this time the focus is entirely on her own musical universe.
The album showcases a more personal, organic, and predominantly jazz-centered side of Gill. As a vocalist, she draws mainly from soul and jazz influences, while as a drummer, she builds on broken beat and experimental music to create a dynamic, at times meditative, and freely flowing immersive experience.
If you love modern jazz, rhythms rooted in trip-hop and contemporary improvisational music, or are simply curious about what a drummer can do when channeling her diverse musical influences into a single record, this is a show you shouldn’t miss.
