Anna Fabricius’s latest photo series, Tiger, opens a profound conversation with her 2004–2006 work, Domestic Tigress. Using the method of "rephotography," the artist revisits her original subjects twenty years later to explore how the personal and social experience of motherhood changes over time. This project is more than just a technical "then and now"—it is a soulful reflection on two decades of artistic practice and a fresh look at what it means to be a mother.

While the original Domestic Tigress was a groundbreaking look at the social pressures and roles forced upon women, Tiger shifts the lens to a later chapter of life. These photos capture that delicate transition where the intense bond of dependency between mother and child begins to evolve. They also explore the "empty nest"—that psychological space where children leave home, and the familiar definitions of motherhood and womanhood are either emptied out or filled with entirely new meanings. Fabricius doesn’t frame this as a loss, but as a complex, bittersweet journey where care, letting go, and self-identity intersect.
