Nelio Biedermann: Lazar – Book Launch & Discussion

Nelio Biedermann’s novel Lazar evokes the turbulent decades of the 20th century, the collapse of the old world, and long-buried family secrets through the story of a Hungarian aristocratic family spanning several generations. For the young Swiss author of Hungarian descent, the novel has been a breakthrough onto the international literary scene: Lazar became an international bestseller, is being translated into 26 languages, and is also being adapted for film. The author of this atmospheric novel, at once modern and timeless, has become a literary sensation known around the world – and now, finally, he is coming to Budapest.

The author’s official panel discussion will begin at 5:00 pm on 2 October in the Plenary Room. Biedermann will be interviewed in English by cultural journalist Dorka Gyárfás about his novel, his Hungarian roots, and his connections to Hungary. A book signing will also take place after the discussion, next to the Plenary Room.

The event is free to attend and no registration is required. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Simultaneous interpretation equipment will be provided at the venue.
