Forest of the Unconscious – Exhibition by Leila Boveiri – Opening Reception
The forest is a recurring setting in myths. It is a timeless landscape that provides space for ever-changing stories and characters, regardless of their cultural or historical origins. Mythologies, as products of the collective unconscious, form a shared world that can be imagined as a forest.

Íme egy természetesebb, kiállítási szövegként jól működő angol változat:
The forest is a recurring setting in myths. It is a timeless landscape that accommodates ever-changing stories and characters, regardless of their cultural or historical origins. Mythologies, as products of the collective unconscious, form a shared world that can be imagined as a forest.
The central painting of the exhibition depicts a fragment of this Forest of the Unconscious. Within this realm, separate myths coexist simultaneously. On one side, Narcissus gazes at his own reflection, while elsewhere Daphne flees from the embrace of Apollo. No boundaries separate the myths represented here; the scenes intertwine and give rise to a new narrative. The title work forms the conceptual core of the exhibition, a kind of source from which the other paintings emerge. It serves as the point of departure—a distant view of the forest—while the remaining works offer closer perspectives, bringing individual characters and myths into focus.
All of these figures belong to the forest, yet some become one with nature itself. Through the metamorphoses of mythical beings, trees and their fruits acquire new meanings. The forest thus becomes more than a setting; each tree preserves a story of its own.
The paintings presented in this exhibition offer a glimpse into this inner world.
The exhibition will be opened by Baranyi Ildikó, philosopher and art writer.
The exhibition is open to visitors from 30 June to 30 July 2026 during the gallery’s opening hours.
