Joshua Idehen to perform in Hungary for the first time.

One of the most compelling voices in contemporary spoken word, Joshua Idehen, will perform in Hungary for the very first time on October 9, 2026. The British-Nigerian poet, writer and performer will bring his latest project to Turbina Cultural Centre in Budapest, presenting a unique live experience that seamlessly blends poetry, electronic music and a powerful sense of community.

Over the past few years, Joshua Idehen has become one of the defining figures of the spoken word and alternative music scenes. He has previously collaborated with acclaimed artists and groups including Sons of Kemet, The Comet Is Coming, LV and Benin City, while his career reached new heights through his collaboration with Ludvig Parment (Saturday, Monday). Their breakthrough track, „Mum Does The Washing”-originally inspired by a series of tweets – became an unexpected international success, leading to sold-out headline shows, major festival appearances and television performances.

In March 2026, the duo released their acclaimed debut album, I Know You’re Hurting, Everyone Is Hurting, Everyone Is Trying, You Have Got To Try, which was widely praised by the international press as one of the year’s standout spoken word and electronic music releases. Exploring themes of grief, hope, resilience, human connection and social reflection, the album pairs Idehen’s emotionally charged, powerful delivery with Parment’s atmospheric production, drawing on house and club music to create an immersive and deeply danceable sound.
Joshua Idehen’s live performances are unlike any other: part concert, part poetry reading and part club experience. Combining intimate storytelling, social commentary and euphoric electronic music, his shows are both thought-provoking and uplifting. It is no surprise that he has recently captivated audiences at festivals including Glastonbury and Green Man, while also appearing on Later… with Jools Holland.

The Budapest show promises to be a special occasion, marking Joshua Idehen’s debut performance in Hungary. On October 9 at Turbina Cultural Centre, audiences will have the opportunity to experience an artist who effortlessly fuses contemporary poetry with electronic music, creating a live performance that is at once cathartic, celebratory and unforgettable.
