Budapest Afro Ska Orchestra

The Budapest Afro Ska Orchestra was formed by young musicians whose music draws inspiration from the pulsating rhythms of Africa and the playfulness of improvisation. They blend Afrobeat, ska, and funk with the powerful energy of live performance. At the heart of their sound is danceable, groove-oriented Afrobeat, featuring plenty of horns and improvisational sections. They draw inspiration from the legacy of artists such as Afrobeat founder Fela Kuti and the Jamaican ska legends The Skatalites. At their concerts, they seek and convey a sense of lightheartedness that brings a smile to the listener’s face and inspires carefree dancing, while also allowing space for deeper immersion in the music. Building on tradition yet striving for freshness, their sound aims to appeal not only to their own age group but to all open-minded generations. In addition to their original songs, they also perform classics and covers.
