Mozart Close-Up – Piano Recital by Gábor Farkas
Hungaroton Album Release

Schedule
The five-disc series released by Hungaroton, presenting all of Mozart’s works for piano performed by Gábor Farkas, is a remarkable undertaking in the history of Hungarian recorded music and piano performance. Drawing on pieces from the series, the artist evokes the richly varied musical world of perhaps the most popular composer of all time in a special evening. The programme features the lyrical Adagio movement from the Sonata in F major (K. 280), the light and melodious Sonata in C major (K. 330), the dramatically powerful Fantasy in C minor (K. 475), and the passionate Sonata in A minor (K. 310). The concert will also include a conversation in which, prompted by András Batta’s questions, the speakers will discuss how the five-disc album concept came about, the artistic challenges of recording Mozart’s complete piano works, and behind-the-scenes stories from the sessions. The event thus offers both a concert experience and a glimpse into the making of an exceptional recording series.
