PRESENTATION CEREMONY OF THE TAMÁS REMÉNYI

This is the first time we are presenting the award, which is intended to honour the memory of our friend and colleague, the distinguished critic and editor József Tamás Reményi, born 75 years ago on this day, and to reward those who carry on his intellectual and professional legacy, his demandingness and openness in their work. In other words, those persons with a broad outlook, outstanding critical and editorial skills, who are not biased in terms of literary trends, who play a significant and active role in the Hungarian literary community and public discourse, who influence its development, whose criticism has a great impact in professional circles, or who participate in the creation of significant publications, even in the editing of complete works, or whose publishing activities are unquestionable. The prize is awarded to literary critics and publishing editors who have been in the field for a long time and are relevant and important to the profession and the reading public. They are primarily those who, like the eponym of the prize, have contributed to the field of 20th century and contemporary Hungarian literature.
