You never forget your first time. Chris Botti is making his first appearance at Müpa Budapest and he has big things in store. Released in October 2023, Vol. 1 is not only Botti's first album for more than a decade, it is also the trumpet player's debut record on the legendary Blue Note label. Botti is returning to his own roots and those of jazz itself, as his remarkable trumpet play takes centre stage with some cherished songs both old and new. Perhaps it is now that we will feel closest to the true Chris Botti.

Schedule

After Botti turned 60 in 2022, he felt it was time to take stock and start afresh. Just as the world began to open up again and begin a new life after many months of seclusion, so Botti reassessed his own future path. He had achieved almost everything in his career, having worked alongside Sting, Paul Simon, Barbra Streisand, Lady Gaga, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, Bette Midler, Joni Mitchell, Steven Tyler, Andrea Bocelli, Herbie Hancock, Yo-Yo Ma, and a host of other legends, while also becoming a legend in his own right. Many of his albums have topped the charts and his career has been garlanded with gold and platinum albums, a Grammy award and concerts at the world's leading venues. Today, Botti's style is arguably more personal than ever, while his set-list will be packed full of favourites, including My Funny Valentine, Someday My Prince Will Come, Blue in Green by Miles Davis, Two For The Road, written in tandem by Pat Metheny and Charlie Haden, and Coldplay's smash hit Fix You. One thing that never changes: Botti's enchantingly melodic, elegant and virtuoso play captures a variety of moods on an almost visual level.
