One of the world's best jazz/world music composers and saxophonist Boris Kovač's new formation and the legendary ensemble of drMáriás, in one evening, bound by four decades of friendship.

Újvidék Calling could be the title of our evening, as it focuses on the reunion of two artists of Újvidék origin. Boris Kovač and drMáriás first played together in 1984 on a jazz recording session at Kovač's legendary studio in Novi Sad, only to develop a long and deep friendship. Boris has regularly offered advice and studio recording opportunities to young local musicians, including the first studio recording of the Scientists in 1989.
Later, Boris Kovač and drMáriás organized contemporary music festivals in Novi Sad and Budapest (Rituali Festival, Big Ear Festival, Novi Sad Jazz Festival, Ring Ring...) but even during the Yugoslavian civil war, the Scientists, on which Boris played saxophone, recorded in Kovač's studio and released it in 1997 under the title Officer, published by Bahia.
Boris Kovač has already given many legendary concerts in Budapest with various formations, from contemporary jazz to the apocalyptic world music cavalcade of the "last Balkan tango" to solo concerts. This time, he will present his new formation, in which he will play piano, clarinet and bass clarinet, his son Lav Kovač drums, piano and melodion, while Miloš Matić, familiar from almost all his formations, will play double bass and tambourine in parallel with the film projected on it.
This time, the Scientists will perform a special selection of their most popular early and recent songs as a studio concert.
Join us on a journey into the rich musical and cultural world of these two artists, very different in their ars poetics, yet united in identity and passion, who bring their great orchestras to us.

A38 Ship
Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
